About the event
Join us on Friday, May 22nd for a special public release of two Great‑horned owls that have been in rehabilitation at the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for the past 2–3 months. This is a rare opportunity for the community to witness the final step in the rehabilitation process — returning native wildlife back to the wild where they belong. These owls came to us after being knocked from their nests under different circumstances. After months of specialized care, proper diet, and conditioning, they are ready for release. Public releases allow our community to see firsthand the work that goes into wildlife rehabilitation and to gain a deeper appreciation for the native species we share our environment with.
