BABY HAWKS/OWLS/FALCONS

If you find a baby hawk, owl, or falcon on the ground and can safely reach the nest, please place the chick back—this is almost always the best option. If the nest is too high but you still see the parents nearby, you can create a substitute nest using a sturdy basket or bucket with drainage holes and secure it in the same tree where the chick fell. Raptor parents will readily accept a well‑placed replacement nest and continue caring for their young. If the adults do not return to the new nest, they may have been injured, killed, or abandoned the area after the original nest was destroyed. In that case, keep the chick warm, avoid handling it more than necessary, and bring it to us for care.
