BABY DUCKS
Baby ducks stay with their mother for a long time, so if you find ducklings alone at a park, the mother may have been injured or they may be dumped domestic ducks. Many domestic duck breeds are bred not to fly, which means when they’re abandoned, they cannot escape predators and often don’t survive. We see a large number of dumped ducks after Easter, and they require specialized care. If you come across ducklings without a mother, please call us before intervening so we can help determine whether they’re wild or domestic and what the safest next step is.
